Credit card firm supports Citizens Advice campaign

A new financial leaflet has been backed by Barclaycard. Barclaycard has collaborated with Citizens Advice to offer Top Tips guides to members of the public.

The credit card firm has supported the provision of the leaflets, which will be distributed in England and Wales over the Christmas period.

Citizens Advice figures released today (December 2nd) also show that the charity helped around 2.74 million people with money concerns between April 2008 and September 2009.

The leaflets include advice on planning Christmas finances, paying bills, shopping around for the best deals and checking the terms and conditions of credit agreements.

Amer Sajed, chief executive of Barclaycard UK, said: "We're supporting this campaign as we want people to enjoy Christmas without getting into financial difficulties.

"It's all too easy to overspend, so we are encouraging people to decide how much they can afford and to seek advice as early as possible."

Citizens Advice data indicates that the number of debt and benefits-related problems recorded in England and Wales is growing at an annual rate of 21%.
